Ion8 Leakproof Water Bottle Review

As a personal trainer and avid exerciser, I use a water bottle a lot more than most – not a day goes by where I don’t have a bottle with me. In the car, in my gym bag, by my desk – like a London rat, I’m never more than a few feet away from a water bottle! It puts me in a good position to do this Ion8 Leakproof water bottle review.

Having been asked to review the Ion8 Leak Proof water bottle, I took the chance – as I mentioned, I’m uniquely qualified given I’ve used or reviewed nearly every style of water bottle and protein shaker there is – metal, plastic, shaker, shaker with added sections, bottles with straws, with self-cooling mechanisms etc etc, I’ve seen and tried them all.

Ion8 Leakproof Water Bottle Features

The first thing that stands out is the size – it’s a 1 litre bottle, which personally I really like. It means you’re unlikely to need to re-fill it during a workout, but at the same time it’s not so big that it’s awkward to carry.

The next is the colour and finish. I was given the chilli red, which is a classy colour and the finish is matt, with a really smooth texture. The edges at the top and bottom of the bottle are rounded, with is a nod towards thought and consideration – I’ve found sharper edges tend to be damaged more easily, leading to punctures in the bottle and leaks.

The lid is where the bottle exceeds others – it has a push-button opening action. First you release a catch that holds the lid secure, then with the push of a button the Ion8’s lid pops open. It’s a really smooth action and can be done with one hand. When you’ve had your drink, simply close the bottle and close the locking catch.

The drinking spout is wide enough to ensure you can get plenty to drink from it – there is a good flow (a pet peeve of mine with cheaper bottles is when you struggle to get a decent drink because the flow is so limited!) so it’s handy for intense training sessions. It’s ideal for liquids, but for thicker drinks such as protein shakes it’s not ideal.

In terms of the plastics etc, it’s made from BPA free plastic so is non-toxic, which is a nice feature and one that personally, I think all water bottles should be made to adhere to.

Ion8 Leakproof Water Bottle Review Concluded

If you’re looking for a great quality, large water bottle for your training or office use, you don’t need to look any further. The Ion8 Leakproof water bottle is well made, functions fantastically and at £16.99 is an investment that will last you a long time. Most importantly, it won’t leak all over your gym kit like plenty of cheaper bottles I’ve had in the past have done!
