KitSound KSActive Review

I’ve been using a KitSound KSActive recently.

I’ll be honest off the bat – I’ve never really been a fan of these kinds of devices. I suppose that’s because I first tried mobile music devices a few years ago and they were garbage. Took ages to load music, sound quality was terrible, battery life poor and the ear buds always fell out during exercise. Overall, they were a bad experience.

I tried the KitSound KSActive to see if anything had changed over the years. It turns out, it has. Quite a lot has changed actually…KitSound KSActive review The KitSound KSActive is interesting because it works via bluetooth – it doesn’t actually store the music itself, instead it plays music from your nominated device. In my case, the device was my iPhone 5, so everything on the phone, I could listen to. After charging via my laptop it was ready for pairing. No time-consuming uploading of music, compatibility issues with devices etc.

The KitSound KSActive is really easy to pair to a device. The instructions are simple and it only takes a few seconds. Once it’s done, the device is ready to go and you can listen to anything straight away. Like I said, I use an http://www.three.co.uk/iPhone/iPhone_6 and it paired easily. It also means you can get on quickly and use the fitness features with the phone, making storing your workout data and taking control of your health and fitness easier than ever!

Beyond being just a music device, it also allows you to answer calls, meaning you don’t have to dig around your bag or phone storage wallet to answer a call. The speaker and microphone are easily as good as those on the phone, meaning there is no drop in sound quality with the phone call, even though you are using a third party device.

There is a good range between the KitSound KSActive and your phone too, meaning you don’t have to have your phone strapped to you in order to receive the calls. I don’t know exactly how far the range is, but it certainly allowed to me walk all around the house whilst my phone was downstairs and there was no problem at all.

The earbuds have a soft plastic covering, meaning they fit well and don’t slip out. I used the earbuds during running and weight training workouts and they stayed in the whole time, which is a massive plus. It’s a real pain in the arse having to put ear buds back in every two minutes.

The clip to attach it to your clothes is good quality. Plastic is solid and the grip is great, meaning it won’t fall off no matter what training you are doing. To test the clip quality I used it whilst doing multiple sets of burpees and it didn’t fall off at all.

Testing the clip may seem a bit much, but anyone who has used something like this before will understand how frustrating it is when the device you are using doesn’t clip tightly, making you either wear it in your pocket or go through the ritual of replacing it 5000 times per workout.

KitSound KSActive reviewThe battery life on the KitSound KSActive is impressive. I charged it up for the full charge first time, then have only had to charge it a couple of times more so far. Typically I train for around 45 minutes per session and turn the device off afterwards and that strategy has meant the KitSound KSActive has lasted for over a week between charges, which is great.

I’m really impressed with the KitSound KSActive. As I said at the start of the review, these portable music devices used to be terrible, but this one is fantastic. It’s small, easy to use, has a fantastic sound quality and because it allows you to answer the phone, a really convenient bit of kit. Much better than similar devices of a few years ago.

One small extra point – I had a small issue with the device (that turns out it was my fault) and had to contact customer support. They were brilliant – got back to me within minutes and sorted my issue out. In these days of poor customer service, they were great.

Overall, I’d recommend this product in a second. It’s easy to use, does the job really well and isn’t expensive! Get yours here.
