The King Shaker Review

Review: King Shaker

Protein shaker bottles are one of those products that just seem to ‘exist’. Nobody really seems to innovate with them, it’s as if they do the job they were intended to and that’s that. There’s been few tweaks to design such as screw-on sections for the powder to be stored at the bottom, but that’s about it. What makes the King Shaker different?

So then, King Shaker, what’s new?

In terms of innovation, there’s a few really simple but impressive additions to the King Shaker…

The King Shaker is made of stainless steel, making it strong, sturdy and most importantly, it doesn’t absorb the smell of day old protein. I know this to be true, because I left the king shaker bottle with the dregs of a protein shake in it for a couple of days before washing it and the bottle wasn’t affected!

The stainless steel body is a bonus – I’ve dropped a couple of protein shakers over the years and the brittle plastic easily breaks, causing leaks. You may dent this one, but unless you drop it from 50 floors up I doubt you’re going to crack it!

It has a built-in agitator, meaning you can never lose it. If you’ve used the ‘normal’ style of protein shaker, you’ll understand the frustration of losing the agitator, rendering the shaker useless for mixing protein. When it’s built-in, you’ll never have this issue!

The picture on the left is the separate agitator, the one on the right shows the built-in agitator in the King Shaker lid. I tested it and it mixes as well, if not better than the separate agitator.

It has a well-sealed, leak-proof cap. The plastic feels harder-wearing and the rest of the cap is made from the stainless steel. I’ve taken this to the gym with me a few times and have never had an issue with it leaking. Leaks are notorious in protein shaker lids, especially when they have been used for a while.

The side of the bottle has an embossed measuring scale line so you know exactly how much liquid you have. You can see this from the inside of the bottle, so even though you can’t see the liquid from the outside you still know exactly how much liquid you’ve added.

If you’re a regular user of protein shakers you’ll understand most if not all of the issues I’ve raised in this review. You can make them all a thing of the past by buying yourself a King Shaker. It’ll last you for a long time, never stink and save you the frustration of cracked, leaking, agitator-less protein shakers!

By the way, there’s only a couple of protein powders I use and recommend to my clients. I know this post is about the King Shaker, but if you’re going to buy one, you want the best protein you can buy to mix in it. Maxinutrition make the best whey protein shakes and my preferred BCAA drink is R5 made by Matt Lovell.

If you want to learn more about R5, Matt Lovell and his thinking behind the product, you can read the interview I did with him here…

You can pick up R5 here – Aminoman R5.
