The Tale of the Cyclist and the Waistline…

The Tale of the Cyclist and the Waistline…

The first gym I ever went to was at Cape Cornwall Golf club in the late 90’s.

I’d head in with my mate after school and without question we’d see the same man in there, going hell for leather on the stationary bike. Seriously – he was riding the thing like he’d stolen it.

Pouring with sweat, he’d hammer the bike for an hour.

After his ride, he’d head into the sauna.

Here’s the thing though – he never changed shape. Ever. Certainly not in the couple of years I was going there anyway.

You couldn’t doubt his motivation or his effort, but obviously there was something wrong in his application.

As a GCSE PE student I didn’t know why he wasn’t making progress – at that point the nuances of fat metabolism and physique change were beyond my levels of understanding.

It just didn’t make sense to me, how he could train so hard, so regularly but still not make any real progress.

A degree and an extra 20 years of study/working in the field later, of course I know what the problems were.

They certainly weren’t effort.

Which brings me back to the picture at the top of this email….

Motivation isn’t enough. A lot of people cite their lack of motivation for no progress, but the truth is you don’t need a huge amount of motivation or effort if you train sensibly. You need to work hard at the right things.

Enough effort in the right direction trumps huge effort in the wrong direction every time. My online ABC programme workouts last an average of 40 minutes. The effort is applied in the right direction.

It’s why my ABC and ABC Foundations Programmes work so well for people….

I’ve done the programming. I’ve done the thinking and the testing. I know they work and I have proof they work.

Here’s a few happy ABC Programme clients…

How do you sign up to my online ABC Programme?

The process is simple. You sign up to my online coaching here. (There’s a no-obligation 7 day trial that costs £1.)

If you like it, you stay. If you don’t, you leave and there are no hard feelings.

If you decide to stay, you’ll chat with me on the phone or Skype to discuss your fitness history, goals etc. From there we decide which of the programmes you’ll enrol onto.

Your workouts are then delivered directly to an app on your phone every single week. The app contains notes from me, videos, guidance and you’re given additional help and advice.

We can tweak them for your likes and dislikes (within reason, you can’t just sit and eat cake!)

You can message me, call me, email me etc with any questions too.

If you’ve wasted too much time not making any fitness progress, why not give it a try?
