Check Your Diet

It’s easy to focus on the training side of things, but whatever goes down in your kitchen will have an affect on your capabilities. Food is essentially the fuel you need to work to your maximum potential, so if you’re running on unhealthy, sugary and fatty types of food, you will be filling up on the wrong substances and harming your body rather than helping it. There are specific diets that are better for individual sports, like a heavily protein based meal plan for bodybuilding or a carbohydrate dense intake for a marathon runner. Most will consist of protein, carbs, and fibre in differing quantities, and low levels of healthy unsaturated fats from sources luke nuts and avocados. It’s fine to have a few treats every so often, but the healthier you eat, the greater capability your body will have.

Enter A Competition

This depends on the type of sport or activity you would like to progress in, but most if not all will have some kind of competition that you can get involved with. Be it the fastest pace, the highest weight, or any other measurable act. By taking part in a competition you will be motivated to push yourself and work even harder to be on top form and have a better chance of winning. You will also get to meet like minded individuals that can offer you tips and guidance, or professional links into the industry and competition to pursue your passion even further.

Become A Trainer

If you think you’ve got what it takes to show other people how to do your chosen sport or activity, consider becoming a coach or trainer. Not only will you be paid for doing what you love, you will be able to spend an even greater amount of time practicing and perfecting your skills. There are many different options and levels of teaching available, but the best place to start in order to gain all-round knowledge would be by completing a personal training course. This will result in a qualification, and give you the information required in both nutrition and fitness.

Pushing yourself to work harder and do better will allow you to pursue your passion in a professional environment, and gain respect throughout the sport or industry for you contributions and dedication. Taking your fitness to the next level is a tough task to complete, but the rewards you will reap and the feeling you get when you beat your personal best or win that all important trophy or tournament will make it all worthwhile.
