Gift ideas for fitness fans

If you are still scratching your head wondering what to buy a friend or family member who is into weight training, read on. Below, are some fitness-related gift ideas you can use for inspiration.

A new training bar

Most people train with loose weights. Doing so provides you with a great level of flexibility. As your fitness improves you can gradually lift more. The bar that the weights are attached to is especially important. If you use the wrong one it can be considerably uncomfortable. The more weight you lift the more vital it is to use a good quality bar. For example, a BLK BOX Fitness Olympic barbell. This style of bar is the kind that a lot of elite athletes choose. It does not flex too much and has a hardened chrome shaft which feels good in the hands and ensures the plates are held as firmly as possible.

A pull up mate

Pull-ups are an extremely effective way of working out. They exercise your core, biceps, triceps, wrists, lats, shoulders, and forearms all at the same time, It is also an excellent way to improve your grip strength.

But you need somewhere to set up a pull-up bar. If you workout at home that often means putting it up in a doorway. This can look unsightly and if it cannot be moved, the bar gets in the way.

A pull-up mate is a fantastic alternative. I reviewed one recently and was impressed. They enable the user to do a good range of exercises. If you do decide to buy one just be aware of the weight limitation. The last thing you want to do is to order a present that the person you are giving it to cannot use.

Adjustable kettlebells and other space-saving workout equipment

Many home workout fans struggle with places to keep their gear. It tends to get in the way if they do not have a dedicated workout space.

Hauling everything in and out of a cupboard can be off-putting. So, any clever pieces of equipment that fold up or take up less space will make welcome gifts. Adjustable kettlebells are a great example of this. There are removable weights in the base that stack when not in use. Using them you can work out with a 12 lb to 42 lb kettlebell. If you want to give working out with them a try yourself, this article contains some excellent exercise ideas.

Of course, you will need to be careful when buying gifts like this. You have to know a bit about how the person you are buying for works out. If you are in any doubt, it is best to buy vouchers instead or ask for a gift receipt at the time of your purchase. That way, the person receiving your present can change it if necessary.
