How to Make a Burger (Horse Meat Not Included)
How to Make a Burger
Naughty food producers…putting horse meat in cheap burgers. Who would have thought that a burger product costing a few pence didn’t contain 100% fillet steak?!
For me, the most unfortunate issue here is the fact that the public are more offended by the horse meat than the other crap that is in their food – they accept the stabilising agents, the preservatives, the e numbers and flavour enhancers, but a bit of perfectly edible (if not culturally accepted) horse meat causes public outrage. The priorities are wrong.
The thing is, producing a really tasty, healthy and good quality burger takes only a few minutes of your time. With a few ingredients, you can make a burger that will beat anything you would eat in a McDonalds or from the frozen food aisle of the supermarket.
So, how to make a burger…
Ingredients
- Minced sirloin steak (my preferred cut of meat, but use whatever you like)
- Garlic
- Tomato Ketchup (not essential, but I like it!)
- Beef stock cube (I use this instead of salt, but use salt if you prefer)
How-to Guide
- Place the steak and stock cube into the bowl
- Chop the garlic into tiny chunks and add to the meat
- Add tomato sauce on top
- Thoroughly mix the ingredients together in the bowl…
- Shape into burgers…
- Cook the burgers to your liking and serve them as you wish. My preferred way of serving them is with lettuce leaves, fried onions, cheese and tomatoes. No bread in my world!
Here are how we have our burgers – barbecued, served with a lettuce bun and washed down with a bit of cider or wine!
So there you go – a quick and easy homemade burger. Horse meat free. In just a few minutes you can make great burgers and control what goes into your body much more successfully. Burgers don’t have to be unhealthy, as this recipe proves!
