Gym Workout: 29th Jan 2016
Gym Workout – the last one in January!
This gym workout was the only training session I did all week – it was my recovery week (read more about it here) but I felt some movement was required!
I’d done a 36 hour fast (apart from Athletic Greens and an R5 amino acid recovery drink) the day before and although I had broken my fast, I didn’t feel as though I wanted to push my limits too far as I didn’t know how I’d be feeling.
I wanted to include my Olympic lifting practice without going over the top so started with power cleans. Clearly the fasting had left me a little light on energy (although I’d eaten food it clearly wasn’t long enough before as I didn’t have much energy from it), so I didn’t go too hard – I don’t think anyone would hire a personal trainer in Stockport that ended up collapsing under a barbell!
I added some push presses to work on my overhead strength, before moving onto my volume lunges followed by pull ups. By this point in the workout I was fatiguing, but was working to a high intensity so was happy.
My gym has a great rig set up with all kinds of attachments, including multiple TRX stations, so it was on to there next…
Recent physio treatment revealed that I am slightly lordotic in my spine so I’ve been working on more hip flexion in my ab work, hence the TRX atomic push ups. In fact, my most popular upload to YouTube is a TRX atomic push up competition I filmed! (Watch the video and subscribe to my channel!)
I finished off with a few sets of face pulls for prehabilitation and alternating dumbbell curls because even personal trainers go a bit ‘bro’ sometimes….
