New Training Ideas That’ll Reinvigorate Your Approach to Fitness This Year

Are you already feeling like your New Year’s resolutions are fading away and you’re losing the motivation to carry on hitting the gym? If so, you’re far from alone so don’t feel like this situation is in any way unique to you. However, you don’t need to accept the situation either.

There are lots of training ideas that you’ve probably never thought of or considered before. By embracing something new and different, you’ll be able to take your workouts to a new level and completely overhaul and change for the better your approach to fitness in the year ahead. Read on now to find out more.

Trail Running

If you want to get out there and combine your regular training with a hiking experience, you definitely need to give trail running a try. It enables you to run up a steep incline, pushing yourself to the limit while enjoying an outdoor training experience. If you usually confine your training to the gym, this offers something a little different and enables you to break out and that’s something that everyone needs to do from time to time.

Trapeze Lessons

The trapeze is an instrument that can be great at enabling you to learn something new and interesting. We all need something that’s going to keep our attention when it comes to training, and you’ll almost certainly have never done anything like this before. It’s a new skill and that’s why you should find a class near you. Learning alongside other people in the same position as you will make it fun and enjoyable and you’ll discover a whole new way of getting active and fit.

Using a Cross Trainer

Using a cross trainer is something that many people put off. They think it looks too much like hard work. But if you’re looking for something that’ll challenge you and something that you’ve never really done before, this could be exactly what you’re looking for. If you didn’t know already, cross trainers have many benefits and you should read up on them if you don’t believe me. It’s definitely something to consider if you want to push yourself and give yourself a workout that won’t bore you within 10 seconds.

Tightrope Walking

Tightrope walking is not just about walking along a tightrope. Of course, you can do it that way If you want to. But walking along just about any thin strip can be a great way of working out. It forces you to use your whole body, even when it seems relatively straightforward. And it’ll definitely make your balance a lot better than it’s ever been before if you keep at it and carry on practicing for a prolonged period of time. It’s something you should try out because it’s more beneficial than most people imagine.

Step Ups

Step ups are as simple as they sound and that’s the thing that makes them so great. You can do step ups just about anywhere. All you do is step up and then step down and repeat. Obviously, it’s entirely up to you how hard you push yourself and how fast you do it. It’s a very adaptable form of exercise and it’s a great solution when you don’t have any gym equipment at your disposal. It can be an intense workout if you want it to be, which is nice too.

Indoor Soccer

Indoor soccer is often a much more intense way of playing soccer. It’s faster paced and it involves more skill and intricacy. That’s what people love about it, so even if you’ve never really played or enjoyed soccer very much in the past, this could be something that you give a try. It’s a fantastic workout and it’s a lot of fun. Doing a team based sport is a nice way of meeting people and enjoying getting fit alongside others. That’s something that can be missed when you’re working out alone in the gym.

Pilates

Pilates isn’t the most intense form of exercise, but it can dramatically improve your balance and flexibility which can only be a good thing. If it’s something you’ve overlooked and dismissed in the past, you should look at it differently and change your mentality. Pilates could be exactly what you’re looking for and just what you need in order to feel flexible and supple when doing other kinds of exercise and sports. You’ll notice a real difference right away, so don’t ignore it any longer.

Individual Programmes

These days, more and more people are turning to personal trainers and the individual programmes they can offer when getting fit and healthy. If you feel like you need an approach to training that addresses your specific needs, this might be something that you need to turn to as well. That way, you’ll find it easier to reach your specific fitness goals. No matter what those goals and aims might be, there’ll be a tailored programme out there that works for you.

Training with Data

Finally, you should think about the things you use to your advantage when completing training. That means turning to data and really tracking both your fitness and your training sessions in very in-depth ways. It’s never been easier to do this thanks to technology such as smart watches and other devices that most fitness fanatics own these days. Working alongside a trainer can make it easier to gather more data and to gain useful insights from it, so give some thought to this.

These new training methods will change your approach to fitness and help to ensure you don’t get bored of the routines you’ve had in place for a long time. You’ll find that at least a few of the training ideas above will help you and appeal to you in one way or another. Make 2020 your best year yet for fitness and training.

  1. Hi there, great post! I started the year on a high note with a great gym schedule but off late I feel I am drifting away. Maybe I need a change in my workout routine.
