Four Complications Women Can Face During Menopause

Getting the menopause is an exciting time for many women because they finally get rid of their painful periods. Where getting menopause is a good news, it can also cause complications for some women. You can easily treat symptoms like hot flashes with the help of meds like Estradiol, some symptoms, however,  can go beyond it. Here are a few complications that may be caused by menopause:

Cardiovascular Disease

Estrogen level of a woman’s body significantly declines when going through menopause, which increases the risk of heart disease. It is no secret heart diseases are one of the major causes of death in both men and women. It is recommended to take a proper diet and indulge in healthy activities when going through this change.

Visit your doctor for a checkup and take advice on how to keep your heart healthy and cholesterol levels in control. You should also avoid overeating to avoid further issues like gaining weight.

Osteoporosis

Another complication a woman can face during and after her menopause is osteoporosis. Bones in the body become weak and fragile in this condition, which puts them at the risk of getting injured easily.

Women start losing their bone density during the first few years of menopause, and over time, their bone becomes more fragile, further increasing the risk of fractures. Women who get osteoporosis after their menopause are more likely to injure their hips, spine, and wrists. Do not delay consulting a doctor when you start to feel weakness in your bones.

Sexual Complications

When you start losing hormones during menopause, you also start losing libido and become less interested in sex. However, that is not the only sexual complication you face during this phase. You might also experience vaginal dryness due to loss in estrogen. This can cause an uncomfortable feeling and make sex painful. You can opt for a vaginal lubricant or go for estrogen treatments.

Increase in Weight

In a study about mid-life and older women, it was found that almost thirty percent of women gained at least five percent of their body weight in six years during menopause. This issue was even faced by women that maintained a good diet and exercise routine. This extra weight gained during menopause increases the risk of heart disease, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.
