Weight Loss Pills – Be Safe

Weight Loss Pills – Be Safe

Over the years I’ve heard about all kinds of approaches people have taken to lose weight – some successful, others not. Some sensible, others ludicrous. Some safe, others incredibly dangerous. The key is education.

carbs

As a personal trainer my belief is that exercise and correct nutrition should be front and centre of weight loss. In extreme cases, a little extra help may be required or even useful and that is where additional help can come in.

I’ve heard and known of people using ‘fat burners’ for years. The problem here is that these pills are often unregulated and potentially dangerous. If what you’re buying is in an unmarked packet or ‘from a mate’, I’d advise you to steer way clear!

Most of the legal, over-the-counter fat burners are little more than a green tea extract and a high dose of caffeine anyway, so are little more effective than anything you could put together yourself.

There are over the counter medications that can be bought, but only after a doctor has give you the go ahead. One such example is Orlistat, a medication that binds to dietary fat in the body and prevents up to 1/3 of it being absorbed by the body.

Where it’s no substitute for proper diet and exercise, it is an effective boost. Studies have shown that when used correctly (in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise), Orlistat can boost weight loss by around 33% (if you’d lose 2lbs per week without it, you’d lose 3lbs per week with it, for example).

improve your sleep

If you do want to explore weight loss pills, I’d suggest you go down the safest route possible, buying your pills from a reputable pharmacy and only under doctor supervision. You may try to do it yourself or buy cheaper versions, but it’s just not worth the risk. Stay professional and stay safe.
