How Personal Trainers Keep Themselves and Their Clients Protected From COVID19

Personal trainers are likely to see a surge in business now that we are able to work out outside of our homes once again. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, gyms and fitness centers around the world closed down, leaving many people stuck making do with what they had to exercise with at home or utilizing online workout and personal training services. However, with gyms and personal trainers back in business, it’s likely that more and more people will be interested in using the services offered to lose those extra quarantine pounds. So, what can personal trainers do to keep their clients safe from the virus?

Avoid Group Classes:

Group class settings can be fun, but perhaps not the best idea during a pandemic. As a personal trainer, it’s best to go back to work offering one-to-one sessions only, to ensure that your clients feel as safe as possible. The fewer people are together, the lower the risk of COVID19 – so save the group class restarts for later on in the year where we are likely to see a higher percentage of people having been vaccinated and immunity levels rising. 

Use Barriers and Guards:

If you are conducting personal training sessions from a gym or fitness center, it’s a good idea to keep the area that you and your clients will be using private and safe with the use of plexiglass barriers and guards, such as those from barrierlab.com. These are designed to provide safe and private workout stations that your clients can use without having to worry about coming too close with other people, even in a gym setting. They are easy to set up and you can get barriers that are easy to move around if you have to change your location in the gym throughout the day. 

Deep Cleaning:

Clients will always feel safer when they can trust their personal trainer to make sure that everything is fully deep cleaned and disinfected before they come to use it. Spending some extra time in between each appointment to ensure that all surfaces and workout equipment have been thoroughly wiped down with a suitable disinfectant for killing COVID19 particles should be essential.

Rapid Testing:

Wherever possible, it is a good idea to ask your clients to take a rapid COVID19 test before attending a workout session with you. These tests are designed to be taken at home and are easy to use for self-testing purposes, making them the ideal choice if you want to make sure that your clients do not have the virus before they attend. Asking everybody to test themselves for COVID19 before attending will help to keep your mind and rest and your clients. In addition, it’s important to have strong policies in place regarding what your clients should do if they experience any potential symptoms of COVID19. 

With the world slowly returning to normal, working out is something that many people are looking forward to getting back into the most. The demand for your services as a personal trainer is likely to rise, however, it’s important to have a solid plan in place for protecting your clients.
