10 Simple Tips to Keep Your Health in Check for a Fit Lifestyle

Your health is the most important thing you have and taking care of it is solely your responsibility. Many times you have to make big decisions to impact your life but you cannot make huge decisions on the fly and expect to stick to them diligently as well.

So you snowball. The snowball effect is when you make small decisions that give you the courage and strength to make big decisions and then stick to them. So start off by making these small, simple decisions and watch your life transform in front of your eyes:

Watch What you Eat

Many people out there have a love/hate relationship with food. We go on crash diets, load up on protein shakes, go vegan or vegetarian entirely, and one day let go of everything we worked so hard on and stick to our old, comfortable habits.

What we don’t realize that a lot of our eating problems can be solved by simply watching what we eat. If you are trying to lose weight, keep track of the things you eat. Note them in a diary or a food-tracking app. You may then put down that extra candy bar you had been saving for after dinner.

Similarly, make conscious food choices for whatever you want to achieve for your body. Gravitate toward high-protein foods, low carb foods, or just incorporate more fruit and vegetables in your diet.

Track How Much Water You Drink

It is difficult to remember to drink water. We often just drink water when we are very thirsty and that has subtle but negative effects on our body as a whole.

You can download an app on your phone that reminds you to drink water. Alternatively, you can also buy a water bottle and keep it with you wherever you go so that you remember to drink water as often as possible.

Follow up on your Doctor’s Appointments

Doctors are not our enemies. It is a good idea to go for your annual checkup every year to rule out the possibility of any potential threats. You must also visit your specialized doctors like your auto accident doctoryour gynecologist, and your dentist as often as it is necessary as well. Other than that, keep updated with your shots as well. Preventing any threats from arising is better than having to treat them later in life.

Make Small, Active Changes

Try to make decisions to be more active wherever the opportunity presents. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can, take your bicycle to work, go for a short run in the morning to get your blood pumping; all small but highly impactful decisions!

Make Smarter Decisions

Remember that you know your body better than anyone else. The only one who can make smart decisions for your body is you and no one else. And the best way to do that is by listening to your body.

So if you feel drowsy and down and don’t feel up to going to the gym for one day, go ahead and take the day off. Take the elevator instead of the stairs if you are sick or if your body hurts. Do not force yourself to do anything that your body does not agree with.

Explore the Outdoors Often

It is imperative that you explore the outdoors and get as much fresh air as possible, whenever possible. Go for a daily morning walk in your local park. Morning walks are the best way to start the day.

Other than that, plan camping trips with your friends or loved ones. Go fishing or mountain-climbing. These activities enhance your survival skills as well as keep you acquainted with nature while keeping you healthy.

You will also find that going fishing or camping by yourself does wonders for your personal growth as well.

Travel As Much as You Can

There is nothing in the world as rewarding as traveling. The place you live in is familiar to you and staying in a familiar place for a long time can hamper your growth. The world outside of that place is vast and very different from what you are familiar with.

So go see the world, alone or with friends. Try new foods, they will develop your taste buds and build up your immune system. Explore different cities, they will do wonders for your mind and your body. People who travel are exceptionally fit.

Know Your Enemies

Peer pressure is not just relevant to teenagers; it affects nearly all social people. So make sure that the people around you do not pressure you into making unhealthy lifestyle choices. If you find yourself reaching out for another shot what you don’t want to or eating foods that are not compatible with your food goals.

Saying no is one of the best things you can do for your fitness and health. If there are people who hold that against you, you should try keeping them at bay.

Meditate

Meditation can help greatly in keeping your mind clear and it can help you make healthy decisions for yourself.

When you are stressed or anxious, you often end up making unhealthy decisions – such as binge-eating or not eating at all – because your judgment is clouded. When you meditate, you help the stress to melt away and clear your mind. In this relaxed state, you can make conscious, healthy decisions for yourself.

Unwind

Do not stress out too much about any of these things. Remember that relaxing and unwinding is one of the best things you can do for yourself after a long day. Whether you miss a day at the gym or you binge on pizza someday, remember that no mistake is irredeemable. Slow, gradual progress is the best way to make long term and healthy changes.

So take a break every now and then and stay in a relaxed state of mind whenever you don’t need to be alert.
