Handy Tips For A First Time Workout

Image

When the summer comes along a lot of us want to get in shape and build that ideal summer body that we have been lacking in the winter. Getting together the motivation to workout every week can be incredibly hard and it is especially difficult when you haven’t worked out for a long time or at all.

Today we are taking a look at some of the best things you can do if you want to start working out this year and how you can ensure that you are ready for anything that comes your way.

1. Invest in a good workout outfit

The first thing you want to do when you are planning to workout is get some sportswear. You can find some amazing sportswear from this sportswear manufacturer and this will allow you to stay comfortable during a workout and make sure that you are on track. It is important to get yourself good sturdy trainers, an airy top and pants and if you are a woman, a great sports bra. It will make working out much more comfortable and you’ll be more motivated to workout because you get to show off your outfit.

2. Start by scheduling small workouts

Before you go in gung-ho with your workouts and schedule 5 workouts every week, it is important for you to start off small and simple. Ideally when you begin you will want to schedule 2 workouts which last 20-30 minutes every week. This will help get your body used to moving again and it will leave you less likely to fall off the wagon at the first hurdle.

3. Buy some basic equipment

The main reason why a lot of us avoid working out is the idea that we have to go to the gym and be around a whole bunch of strangers and this can be incredibly intimidating and scary. However, you don’t need a gym to stay fit and you can do some amazing body weight exercises in the comfort of your own home. For example you will be able to buy some dumbbells and a yoga mat and this will pretty much allow you to do any simple workout on YouTube. People such as Sarah’s Day offer some great workouts which don’t take too long.

4.Try a free trial at the gym

Signing up for the gym is a big commitment for you to make if you are going to go for 2 weeks and then give up altogether. It is important before you sign up for a gym to take a trip there and have a free trial. This will allow you to see what the facilities are like, how busy it will be, and what kind of workout you can do. You might find that the gym isn’t for you and your style of working out and that you prefer working out at home and in the real world.

5. Book a session with a traine

If you do decide to try to gym a little longer it is important for you to sign up with a trainer and have a session with them to get you started. A personal trainer is there to help you make the most out of your workouts and to guide you towards your specific goals. If you want a certain sized waist and abs then a personal trainer can give you advice to move towards this instead of you finding random workouts which don’t give you results.

6. Sign up for a beginner’s class

The gym is a place which has more than just a floor with weights and machines, it usually offers a pool and classes in things such as boxing, aerobics, yoga and all sorts. It is important for you to try a class when you first start at the gym because this can be a good way to get in a focussed workout every week and ensure that you are targeting the right areas of the body.

7. Try a few different workouts

When you start working out for the first time it is a good idea to dabble in a few different activities. For example you could think about trying boxing, swimming, spinning and all sorts until you find the workout which you enjoy the most. This is the best way to ensure that you will workout effectively and that you’ll be able to stay motivated for longer. Once you find the workout you like the most you’ll be set.
