5 Reasons You Are Not Losing Weight – Hoyles Fitness

There could be many reasons why you haven’t seen the results of your weight loss efforts.

While not seeing results can be discouraging, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s weight loss journey is different.

We all have different lifestyles. Sometimes all it takes is to narrow down the obstacles in your way and obliterate them.

Build N Box brings 5 reasons why you’re not losing weight.

1. You Are Not Eating Healthy

There’s really no one particular symptom of an unhealthy diet.

It could mean that you’re not eating enough, maybe you’re overeating, or it could just be that you’re not eating enough whole foods.

Whatever the case may be for you, you want to take a closer look at your diet and consider keeping a food journal. Stick to your regular diet for a few days, and document how, what, and how much you’re eating. After a few days, you’ll be able to take a look back at your food journal and identify what changes you can make for improvement. Ask yourself these questions when reviewing your food journal:

  1. How much protein do you average each day?
  2. What nutrients are you missing or getting too much of?
  3. What can alter to make your diet better?

2. You Aren’t Getting the Right Workouts In

With so many workout plans floating around, it can be hard to know exactly where to begin or what workouts are best for your body and your weight loss goals.

Though you should always consult first and foremost with your physician before beginning any workout routine, it can also be beneficial to your goals to work alongside a personal trainer or even attend a group fitness class. This experience of working alongside someone who has expertise in fitness is often the best way to learn what your workout regimen needs.

If you cannot afford to work with a personal trainer or attend fitness classes, remember to keep some variety in your workout routine and to focus on different muscle groups on different days, allowing each group to rest and recover before you come back to it again.

You don’t want to strain your muscles or cause injury, nor do you want to neglect any muscle group.

3. You May Be Consuming Too Much Sugar

If you aren’t monitoring your sugar intake and keeping a food diary, you could be inhibiting yourself in reaching your goals without even realizing it.

Your daily coffee, smoothies, juices, and food add to your sugar intake each day and prevent you from losing weight.

Not to mention the sugar you may also be consuming if you oblige yourself with a cocktail or a glass of wine, as these sugars are often overlooked.

4. You Aren’t Drinking Enough Water

You’ve likely heard the old saying that you should be drinking 8 glasses of water each day, but the reality is that many don’t even drink that much, and even for those who do it may not be enough water.

Because each body is different, every human body needs a different amount of water each day. As a general rule, you should instead be drinking half of your body weight in oz of water each day. For someone who weighs 150lbs, this would mean drinking 75 ounces of water each day.

If you’re not really a fan of water, try adding cucumber slices, orange slices, lemon, lime or strawberries to infuse your water.

5. Underlying Medical Conditions

Just as you should speak with your physician before beginning any new diet or workout routine, it’s equally important to keep your physician involved and updated with your progress. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or concerns that you may have regarding your health.

If everything else seems to be failing and you’ve exhausted yourself with food journals and personal trainers, you may want to inquire with your physician as to whether it could be an underlying medical condition that is preventing you from reaching your weight loss goals.

You’ll often hear people refer to weight loss as a journey, and there’s a good reason for that. It is absolutely a journey filled with triumphs and defeats, trials and errors, learning, and acceptance.

It may not happen overnight, but it can happen with the right amount of determination and the remembrance that it isn’t until the goal has been reached that the journey begins. In the end, you’ll be proud you didn’t give up and persevered through.
