Men’s Health Kitchen Range Review

Men’s Health Kitchen range – microwave meals for the fitness fan with little time or few cooking skills.

I was sent a range of microwave meals from Men’s Health recently. They are the Men’s Health Kitchen range aimed at the fitness-oriented man who either doesn’t have the time or skill to cook well but still wants to eat clean.

The meals are varied and interesting. The range contains 9 different dishes, of which I tried 6 (fish allergy prevented me from eating two of them). I found them to be good – really good actually. They were tasty, filling and relatively low in calories. The dishes were also interesting rather than the typically lasagne, various curries and Chinese meals.

Until these, I rarely ate microwave meals, largely thanks to the stigma attached to them from a while back. Poor quality ingredients, high levels of salt, sugar and questionable meat (horse meat scandal of a few years back springs to mind!)

Times have changed though. Microwave meals aren’t what they used to be – quality control has rocketed. Amongst the top end of the market there is actual consideration for the end user. Ingredients are better. Vitamin and mineral content is higher. Taste is a world apart, so you feel as though you are actually eating food you can enjoy rather than crap to fill you up.

The Men’s Health Kitchen range is an easy way to eat well on the go. Plus, if you count your calories you can do it with ease thanks to the detailed nutritional information recorded on the box.

Why I would use the Men’s Health Kitchen range…

I know my way around the kitchen, so the ability to cook a decent meal isn’t a problem for me. Time is – but these take care of that.

I run a busy personal training business in Stockport and I have a young family. Sometimes I need to grab something quick in between personal training sessions, but I don’t want that thing to be junk food. With these Men’s Health Kitchen meals you needn’t worry about the quality – this is the product description taken from their own website….

Men’s Health Kitchen is a new range of nutritious frozen ready meals packed with lean proteins. Developed with the experts at Men’s Health magazine, the nine delicious recipes are designed to help men eat smart without adding time to their already busy schedules. Containing at least one of your five a day, delivering a great source of fibre, loaded with protein and low in fat, sugar, salt and oil, the new Men’s Health Kitchen range is an essential part of eating clean and lean.

These recipes have been created using no free running sugar, with only honey or dried fruit incorporated for natural sweetness. Use of free running salt has also been avoided using umami and soy flavours.

There’s another benefit to the Men’s Health Kitchen range – the cost. They have a RRP of only £2.50 in Asda, which for the quality is great. When you consider a crappy packet sandwich is around that price, it’s a bargain in my eyes!

For more information, visit Men’s Health Kitchen Range page and to buy them, visit Asda’s website.
